We left our cozy ocean side apartment in Riomaggiore this morning in favor of a Tuscany favorite – Florence! We dropped out stuff at the hotel (much less glamorous than our apartment in Cinque but hey – you can see the Duomo from our room!) and ran off into the city. We had reservations at the two BIG museums today – the Accademia, where the famous and beautiful statue of The David is housed (even Drew was impressed!) and then straight to the Uffizi Gallery, which is often touted as one of the oldest and most famous museums in the Western world (Leonardo Da Vinci & Michelangelo used to hang out and look at paintings here) – and home to one of my most favorite paintings – The Birth of Venus by Botticelli.
Since we knew it would be a long day on our feet, mostly inside where pictures would not even be allowed, Drew opted to leave his camera at home for the day. His shoulder and camera arm were grateful for the rest. We’d be in Florence for a few more days – plenty of time for pictures. But, because we wanted to post something – here is the view from our hotel window.
Well…. you CANNOT beat THAT view, now, can you?!?! Gorgeous!! So happy you got to experience this first hand!
I freakin love this website but secondly i love the tag, “burrito foot” -for obvious reasons.
