Borromeo Islands – Stresa

This is more like it!

Waking up a little earlier than we wanted to in Milan to the sound of the recycling truck literally RIGHT outside of our window (probably ten feet away from our bed) dumping about a dozen bins of what seemed like all glass into the truck, we packed up and headed straight to the train station.

Now we are in Stresa – a cozy little town right on the edge of Lake Maggiore in northern Italy.

This is the view from our hotel window:

There are 3 islands in this part of the lake which are called the Borromeo islands for the family who built the palaces & gardens we saw on two of these islands.
