Day 3 in Paris – Pere Lachaise and more…

Today we woke up in Coutances. We were lucky enough to visit a friend who lives the French countryside on the northwest coast of France (about 30 min from Normandy beach). Since the train (and bus) ride to get there took over three hours, she let us stay the night.

After getting back to Paris, we hopped on the metro and went straight to Pere Lachaise Cemetery. Littered with the tombstones of the city’s most illustrious dead, this is your best one-stop look at Paris’ fascinating and romantic past residents. It is more like a small city and very easy to get lost. We saw the graves of Frederic Chopin, Moliere, Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein and of course Jim Morrison.

On our way back home, we quickly stopped outside the Notre Dame (it was too late to go inside) and then made our way back to Montmartre to find that Sarah and Doug had arrived safely! We found place and had charcuterie for dinner and a nice glass of wine.  On our way home, we shot a few up close pictures of the Sacre Couer.
